LDPE, also known as low density polyethylene is used in applications that require a material to be more flexible the HDPE. LDPE is used extensively in the prosthetic device market for this reason in addition to its ability to be easily draped or vacuum formed. LDPE is easily machinable and offers good chemical and corrosion resistance. Stress relieving the sheets allows the material to be easier to fabricate. Typical applications include orthotic and prosthetic devices, die pads/impact pads and other various medical and thermoformed applications.
